well ive been posting here and have had my sp for a while now but haven't really made anything decent tbh and it's kind of a downer. i usually just make simple loops and scratch over them. well im really inspired by the battles here. it's crazy to listen to the samples and then see all the different things people come up with from the same sounds.

so anyway i just smoked some weed and used the rob swift breaks sample that was posted in the arena a while back. i just made something simple. not much choppage or anything. just tryed to mess up the sample a bit and add some simple things to it.

just would like some feedback because there a lot of really dope producers here who are making crazy hot beats all the time.

anyway heres the link (sorry about the shitty sound quality and the FILE SIZE sorry its my first time ever uploading).

h.beat.wav - 9.65MB

please me brutally honest and leave criticism.

peace

this sounds good man

i like the way the Vinyl Sim fluctuates the beat, adds a nice wobble

the effects you used have helped all the parts sound like they fit together

the drum rhythms are really nice, perhaps a bit more chopping would've allowed them to be more unique. i like the minimal use of other samples, fits nicely to the groove, though they had perhaps too much distortion and didn't stand out enough

all in all, sounds sweet

hey hotsauce, don't get down about yr beats man. fink of 'em as a work in progress if they're not hitting you exactly as you want them to, then work to get them so they are.

and i don't think anybody here will rag you out for posting stuff yr just experimenting with, or trying out or whatever. push it real good.

i like the beat you posted. as drewzle said, making the melodies aw wobbly is a good touch. the beat is solid, and i like how around the 1 minute mark you seem to EQ it a bit different and double up on the kicks.

my suggestions: that beat is HEAVY, so its a bit of a barrage running for the whole track (even the double kicks are heavy). maybe consider dropping the beat away entirely to give the track some shake up. it will seem even heavier when it comes back in.
i'd also suggest a slightly brighter mix. its a little muddy to me. but that could just be my tastes.

otherwise, good work, mans. keep it up.

thanks for the responses guys.

tbh when i woke up this morning and remembered i had uploaded the beat i felt utterly ashamed of myself. most of the beats i have done so far are like this one, nowhere near complete. i just leave them on the sampler and keep tweaking them constantly. but i hardly ever get to smoke any more so last night while i was stoned i thought it would be a great idea to post up the beat .

i would like to explain that i didn't use the pattern editor for this beat (i rarely use it ever) it was more of a live "freestyle" that i just resampled. i know the mix is a bit on the muddy side but im a sucker for that sound 8) .

this is really more like a work in progress (needs a lot of work) and i was really nervous to see what sort of response it would get so thank you for being kind and offering very helpful and constructive criticism.

 man i been in that same position too
when i first posted a track i'd made here i was very nervous as to whether it was dog-shit or not.

but we're all learning here, so don't feel embarrassed. post up your next beat when it's done and let us hear it, that's the fastest way to improve - practice and receiving feedback : )

Dont worry your self so much over being dope or w/e...just put some samples in there and express yourself. Thats what its all about ! This beat sounds pretty fresh also... soooo dirty...I love it :)
