i have a few questions??

i know from hearing people say it, that changing the pitch and tempo really messes with the sample. but does it go both ways, like i can see how stretching the tempo out could effect it, but what about making a clip faster?

I'm not exactly sure what your asking so I dont know if I'm answering your question. but whether you pitch a sample up or down or stetch a sample faster or slower it will sound like shit.

its much worse when you make a sample slower. if you speed it up it might sound ok a bit.

i use Acid Pro for streching and pitching shit, it's good.

another question.

say i have some drum hits on some pads, can i record a drum pattern and make play on one pad, so when i make a pattern with the sample and bass and all that i dont have to play out the drums again? i might of worded this wierd.

and keep in mind i still dont have the sp yet. =(

im just trying to figure all this out beforehand so right when it comes to my doorstep i can start making music.

I use acid too, but I've recently discovered ableton's pitchshifting and timestretching capabilities. It is super powerful.

yeah man, thats the sequencer. you can play everything one at a time

I think that it sometimes make is the sample sound even better. But I guess that all depends on what kind of music you are trying to make...
