I'm wondering what people's techniques are for use of banks A & B primarily... since these are the banks that remain local on your machine, while the others switch out with change of card.

Do you leave pads open to copy samples from one card to another... ?

Put your most trusty drum kits on em?

Or did they fill up as soon as you got your machine and still hold the same samples you originally loaded on them?

I usually use banks a+b for my drums. so I load about 10 backups and have 20 drum kits on each card.

I try to organize all my drums on the A+B banks- sometimes I record many drumhits onto one pad so I could just trim the pad to the drum I wanna use.

one thing i never got to learning yet is the back ups. i'll have to look into them tonight tho because they sound crazy!!

i don't use the pattern sequencer at all for my beats. i just use resample and play everything live. on my bank A i currently have 12 loops and bank B is empty.

when im making a beat i'll load my CF card that has a load of drum samples on it. i'll pick some sounds i like and transfer them to bank B. then i'll build my drum loop. then when im happy with the drum loop i'll delete all the individual parts except the loop itself. then i load another CF card or just directly sample something and keep adding to the song until im happy with it.

on the SP555 I dont use the sequencer much. But on the 404 I always use it. The 404s pads are a bit to spnongy for me.

Frantic, do u use banks A/B for drums and the others banks for samples? i used banks F/J for my bass notes and i resample the note when i find one that mach wit the sample...do you resemple the drums from banks A/B or do u use it? i mean about volume editing ecc... i usually resample my drums for each beat.

Sometimes. But I do it in the bank they are in. I try to keep one pad free for resampling.

Saving a couple pads per bank is key for sure. Building banks as drums on the lower 8 pads and other samps on the top ones works pretty well... keeping the secondary bank for overflow. So when you fill up bank C you add to bank G, or use G for resamples, keeping all the samps for a track on the [C/G] bank, or [D/H], etc.

i'm very confused about organising samples...if i've understood, you use banks A/B for drums sounds and you make some backups...when you make a beat where do u resample your edited drums sounds? in the bank where there are the samples of the beat or in the A/B banks? do u use the other banks (C/G, D/H ecc...) for samples and bass notes? my samples on my CF Card are random.

ok...for example, if u have a kick that u used in one beat and u want use it for another one...do u use the same kick on the banks A/B or do u resample the kick for the new beat? if u have the drums on banks A/B and the samples on the others banks, and u use the drums on A/B, how can u edit the drums or regulatre the volume for each beat? the questions might sound stupid...sorry

Can anyone help me find some drum kits. i can't seem to find any. And if I get them, do I have to record each drum hit onto seperate banks?
