Thinking of finally letting my SP808's go

Hey all,
I've used the SP-808 since it came out. I've been frustrated with the loss of data and the limitation of those zip disks, despite having backed things up. The thing I love so much is how I use the D-Beam in a live setting. I don't know anything out there that comes close, by waving your hand in the air.
I've been searching for an alternative to the SP808 for years and years, and nothing seems to use the d-beam the same way. Now, after searching for so long, I think I'm finally just going to go to an SP-404A and say goodbye to the d-beam as I know it. Hopefully the knobs will come close, but it's totally not the same thing:(
Does ANYONE know of another unit that can do the d-beam with delays and pitch and what not?
I have 3 SP-808's, and I will probably be letting two of them go.

the 555 & 606 both have dbeam. have you thought of getting one of those?

I agree moving pitch on D beam can be really satisfying when skrewing a beat or something
You can try to plug a D beam controller to another sampler that has effects in it. It's pretty rare and expensive tho, there's someone selling it here: https://reverb.com/item/2275714-interac ... -rare-1997

If you have the SP-808, do 2 things:
- Update the OS to the SP-808EX OS.
- Add the Zip750 drive to it. It's way more reliable than the Zip100 & Zip250 drives.

I did this to my SP-808 and then sold it like a dumb ass. I'm looking to get another one.

Sweet deal on Ebay for one that needs a zip drive down to $80bucks, I would get it but I already have 2
