Musical accessibility?

Post by seezesea »

I was just wondering whether people here prefer making/listening to music that is more catchy and accessible or stuff that is more dense and complex? I'm personally in the second camp, I really prefer stuff that is very complex and layered that takes a few listens to really appreciate. I realize it's probably different for everyone in different settings and whatnot but I always seem to prefer the more complex stuff and was wondering what everyone here thinks?

Personally,

I value emotional content more than the quality of recording or composition..

Music affects us all psychologically, whether we realize it or not, and the right song at the right time can be everything to a person.

A sad song to complete your misery and a sappy one to easy you into the upswing,

Some fast paced edm or heavy metal to get you into the mood for an intense workout,

Ambient drone music to help you sleep,

etc etc
