MY OG 404 RUNS WITH A TRANSCEND 133X 1GB SMART MEDIA SINCE YEARS AND I NEVER HAD PROBLEMS.

DO YOU CHECKED YOUR FIRMWARE VERSION ? UPLOAD TO THE LAST

I HAVE A MAXFLASH 80X 1GB WHO WORKS FINE TOO.

I RARELY CHANGE SMART MEDIA, I HAVE ONE FOR EACH 404 SINCE ALWAYS

My Maxflash 80x 1 GB card just came in today and now my SP doesn't even turn on. What's your secret? My firmware is 1.05

EDIT: Never mind. I decided to actually put the card in when the SP was already on. Apparantly it did read it, so I format it and it's working like a charm now..

Yo , any1 from norway/scandinavia/europe even who got a good site to buy SD cards compitable for the SP?

wherever i search i end up finding 4-100GB cards, and thats not really necessary, and it would be a bummer to check out some cards and find out they dont work, since i dont't use SD cards for anything else.

Not sure if this works, but you can try to make a 1GB partition on that 32 GB card and hope the 404 sees and uses this for sampling/importing.

Thanks for getting back to me I believe my card must be malfunctioning in some way as it is write locked and unformattable, whatever the matter my friend has lent me his 1gb sp404sx factory card which works fine as you'd expect, a little small but just rid them pesky default sounds and itll be fine till I get a replacement

for my sp404 i got like 5 CF cards of 128mb all unbranded from ebay,before that i already had an ADATA 1gb that i got with my sp. my 1 gb cf is fckd up a bit, i need to open my sp first and then insert it so it does work. on the other hand the unbranded ones are all working perfectly.

Can’t confirm but I don’t see why not. Pretty sure the A is an SX with a facelift. Make sure to use a newer faster read card, my SX glitches like crazy with the slower ones.

I agree with Kegeratorz, whatever works for the 404sx SHOULD work for the 404a (just a face lift & different samples on the included memory card).

I had my first card glitch last week, while recording everything sounded fine, but when I listened back little chunks of the audio were missing, similar to a record skip. I've been using the card for a while & it always worked fine, so I'm thinking it's possible for cards to wear down as well......... I'm going to format it, will see if that fixes it.

Yeah, what I understand is that the A is just a SX after a plastic surgery... I've heard of different types of cards working on the SX which are not on this list now so maybe I'll just try out a random new one and hope it works.

anyone have any experiences with the Transcend 1gb 133x (i saw the 80 is no bueno, but maybe this quicker card is better?). I got a (almost) BRAND SPANKING NEW SP-404og straight outta da box for only the second or third time, but no CF card sadly.

EDIT: I found a ROLAND 1gb card in the end for way too much- but hey, what can ya do?
