808 midi info for those seeking to sync

Post by ZipSnipe »

Well I thought I would update my midi adventures with the 808.

I have successfully synced the 808 to the Korg Electribe 2. However this is only to trigger pads. And that is it as far as midi and the 808 goes you can trigger the pads. You could probably start a sequence on the 808 but I don't use the 808's sequencer.

I tried to sync the internal effects to midi clock but the 808 does NOT sync to midi clock.

Then I had the problem that everytime I changed a sequence on the Korg the 808 would change banks. The only solution I found for this was to switch the 808's receiving channel. Now this is not a bummer it just means that you would have to set up banks on a zip disk to correspond with the Korgs sequences. No big deal.

So the 808 is not midi friendly at all. But is still workable into a midi set up.
