Remain button

Just wondering if anyone had good info about the remain button as the manual doesn't touch or much what so ever about the inner workings.

Flicking quickly between fx and quickly selecting pads to be remained can get hectic. The remain button is my bread and butter so I'd really appreciate some wisdom...

What do you wanna know about it? It's great for live use as you can preset the parameters without affecting the current track, also it's useful for getting the same fx e.g. compression, EQ on all your samples at once

This is on page 15 of the manual but this doesn't seem to work for me, all I get when I turn the knobs is c-2,2-3 etc.

3rd question is what is with double tapping a button to turn on the fx so you don't effect the last played pad?

Because I do a lot of setting up fx for the next pads I will play quickly when I'm moving into the next section/bars and it gets messing because I have seconds to set everything up.

I think I understand how it works but it does my head in because I get tangled up when I'm trying to select different pads to prepare for the next part, etc.

few other things I have noted

1. if you press REMAIN on several pads but then play another pad not with REMAIN selected and then press the FX, the pads which you selected REAMIN for will be UN-REMAINED and the fx will work for the last pressed pad which wasn't in the remain group...This did my head for a bit.

2. from what I understand is that I have to double tap a pad whilst holding the remain button before I can turn on the fx otherwise the fx will affect the last pressed pad.

things like this have done my head in because I've had to figure all this out as it's not in the manual. It seems super simple but the mechanics of the whole thing can get a bit confusing.

there's few more things I've notice but head is fried from music so this is just form memory as I write form my bed.

Love some input as the manual is a bit skimp imo

Once mastered I'm going to do some tutorials all about the REMAIN

yeah the remain function can be a bit messy, if I'm doing a thing like I'm muting out certain parts of a track it can get messed up

I think I can help with some of your questions, although I'm pretty new to the sx as well so I could be a bit off.
For your first question regarding setting up the effect you'll use next, I'd imagine how it goes is like this: (imagine you have a pad playing)
1: Hold remain and press the currently playing pad so that it isn't lit (might have to select a different pad, I'm not sure how the sx deals with having no pad selected)
2: Let go of remain, press the mfx button to get to your effect, turn the knobs where you want them, turn mfx off when done
3: Hold remain again and re-select your currently playing pad
4: When you turn on the same effect it should (? need to test it) be set up the same way on the pad you want.

This kind of answers both questions since you can do it before you play a pad or during. It honestly might be better to do the double tap of the mfx button if you're setting up an effect while the pad is playing if its not too noticeable

So you can temporally save a settings for delay, filter, isolator djmfx looper, and 1 fx from mfx bank... Almost certain thats how it works

Oh wow it is too, that's tripped out. Glad I know what that does now, cheers for that one!!



Still haven't finished my mini novel on the remain but it's pretty weird how it works.

One thing that did my head in for weeks was how the sx defaults pad 1 to be remained upon turning on and this is also the case if you switch banks after deselecting remained pads. You need to be methodical about remaining multiple pads across multiple banks and changing fx all the time.

Pisses me off that they didn't put this stuff in the manual. Think I've just about written down everything in my note pad but who knows something else might come up.

I'll do a tutorial in the coming weeks, also so I can watch it and remember . Stupid button haha
