I was messing around with my 303 last evening and the cancel button was acting somewhat unresponsive.
I sprayed a little Deoxit from the outside and for a few seconds it started to work rather well. About 30 min. later all 4 buttons stopped working-record/delete/cancel. I got the "remain" button working again.
Now, when I've used Deoxit on my MPC the buttons became unresponsive. about 20 min. later they started to work well again. Same thing happened with my Microkorg.
But, with the 303-nothing 24 hours later...still unresponsive. I opened it up and tried to clean with rubbing alcohol...nothing. I sprayed (stupidly) Deoxit again and the record button worked...but only once. The remain button isn't responsive at the moment .
Anybody have any clues/answers to this question? I'm pisssed as this is an imperative part of my set up and its a shame that the 303 would be rendered useless over this.

Idk what you could do but if you are willing to sell it hit me up
Re: record/delete/cancel button stopped working. Deoxit.
Nah-not ready to give this one up yet.
I opened it up again and saw that nothing gets through the rubber pads from the outside.
I cleaned all the connectors and still nothing. Pad one has died and pad 5 seems to be on the way out. Remain goes in and out.
I used rubbing alcohol and tried Deoxit directly. The other connectors work well.
Should I get it repaired? Anybody done this before? Or is there another tip or trick I can try?
Edit: took it apart again and cleaned the pads inside and out. Got pad 1 working. Cancel/record/delete not working as of yet

i think deoxit spray is more for mechanical tact-switches and pots...
but look here (SP-303 DEAD PAD FIX):

Re: record/delete/cancel button stopped working. Deoxit.
I dunno man. Deoxit literally brought my MPC back to life. It worked like a miracle, but at first after using nothing would register. Shortly after using the spray and pushing down repeatedly the buttons rose from the dead (60% of the buttons wouldn't work-now they all flawlessly do)
I went into Rogue Music today (a vintage music store in Manhattan) and they said that Deoxit is the right product to use. If the conductors are dead I'll have to order new parts from Roland.
The things about Deoxit is that a very little goes a long way (I lost the straw and a ton came out) Also, it evaporates very quickly.
My record button came back to life today. This is so weird. I just need the delete to work.
Before I tinker with bringing the pads back to life I'll wait a few more days.
What method of making dead pads operate again has worked best for you?
I can't wait to make music again.....
