Pad space and memory cards?

Post by fmmood »

Hey guys, new to the SP, been messing around with one for a couple weeks now.

I purchased a bunch of multi gig cards.. but I find that I am running out of pads to assign long before I have even come close to using half of 1GB of the memory card.

am I missing something? or can you only assign the 10 pad banks per memory card (without connecting to a PC and moving files around within the mem card)

If you've got the 404sx you can save full banks as backups. Then delete everything, re fill with samples and save those banks as a backup in a different slot. Up to 12 slots i think. You can re-load the backups but it will replace everything currently in the banks, but if you've backup saved your current set that's no problem. Make sense?

That way you could potentially have 12 lots of 10 banks with 12 samples in them. That's like 1400 samples, which would test the capacity of your card.

It's a bit of a nightmare keeping track of what's saved in what backup slot, but you could always note it down somewhere!

so this would give you access to more than 10 banks without having to attach your card to a computer and rearrange files everytime?

Saving and loading the backups takes a while, but yeah, you could have 120 banks available on the card. No PC required.
