bpm looper -> momentary silence

2 questions: Does anyone know of alternate methods to get the bpm looping effect with software or hardware? And does anyone else have issues with the 404sx bpm looper sometimes triggering a momentary silence over the entire track? Happens about 1 out of every 5 times I activate the bpm looper and it drives me crazy. i'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this and come up with a fix. thanks

if anyone else runs into this problem i figured a workaround. keep mfx on, keep ctrl knob 2 all the way to the left in the off position, then turn ctrl 3 to the right when you want to trigger the bpm looper. move ctrl knob 3 it back to the left when you want the looping to stop.
