Just wondering if anyone does much with the synths. I just had a bit of a play and built this little mellow number using only the synth.

Does anyone have any examples of what they have done with the synths, and if so could they post them below?
Cheers

Re: 808 on board synths
Nice job man... this is sounding really fresh...
For me, the synths have always been a really underused aspect of the 808... it always bugged me that it took so long to reprogram the steps from the default settings, and that if you didnt save the work, or worse, every time you insert a new disc it defaults to those naff-ass demo-presets... too much work.
That said, by tweaking the sounds in the back-end edit windows and resampling tones etc they are pretty sick as far as synths go. I think at the end of the day Im just more of a hands on person and simply dont have the patience for programming, so some keys or a sample meets my short attention span needs better... but this track youve posted is quite inspiring.

Re: 808 on board synths
Hi LIF,
Thanks for your reply and encouragement.
Yeah i think using the presets with the step modulator is pretty tedious. I quite like expiring the back end of the effects and editing them, nice to learn a bit about how sytjs work. I just got an old midi keyboard plugged in and had a play, opens up a new world, although I think it's a bit of a shame that it is not a poly synth, but then again the limitations of the 808 also make it a bit more fun. One thing I did that I am going to explore is to set sample to auto trim and divide then hit some keys while tweaking some knobs (cut off, xmod, etc). Then you have a bank full of some pretty crisp samples to sequence.
Cheers
