How to chose and MFX without turning it on?? SX

Post by Moolatte »

Hey guys! I am new to the forum, found the secret password and now I am ready to ask you. I got some problems with figuring out the preassigning the effect parameters before i turn them on. Its a bit easier to hold remain and the preassign the knobs but it works only with the main effects, what if I would like to select Tape delay pressing the MFX but without turning the effect on, so I could preassign its parameters before launching.

I will be so happy to find an answer for this question, since I know how much it is possible on the SX (look Samiyam). But how to achieve it... :D

Take care!

Hey Guys! Yes I have read the manual and it does not say anything about the thing I wanted to achieve, I guess I could first use remain to choose a pad that is not playing, assign the knobs, turn of the effect and use remain to change the target sample but I am wondering if there is any easier solution.
chachoschavela - as far as I know hold button helps with changing effect not in toggle mode but momentary (as long as the effect button is pressed). Maybe I am doing something wrong, but would love to hear the explaination :)

Thanks in advance guys for engaging :)

This is something I have been looking for too... I have read through the whole effects section multiple times and can't figure it out. I have an SP-555 and an OG 404 and haven't been able to figure the solution on either of them. I always try and watch Mellotron videos to figure out what they're doing but I can never see it.

I do know you can hold the remain button and set up your parameters on the knobs then let go and hold down MFX to select what effect you set the knobs up for. But I was looking to see if there was any other way that could be quicker.

Hey zsteven! thats good to know that someone got similar needs and problem. thats true with the remain button, but its actually difficult to remember the neutral sounding setting for each effect. But thats just a matter of practicing. The other think I have noticed is that the flashing lights sometimes are not helping, cause the effect is on on some other pad even though its not flashing, so the other way to practice is also to believe in what you pressed (in terms of choosing the pads that are reacting to effect) and just go with it, then it should all kinda work :)

The quickest way to do it imo is to just hit the mfx you want twice quickly, like turning it on and off. Then mess with the settings. If it's a mfx past 12 use mfx+djlooper.

If I understand correctly what you're trying to do, you could just use the remain button to apply the MFX to a pad that isn't currently playing so that you can set it up, then when you want it applied you can use the remain button to put it on the playing pad you want.

Explanation: Holding down the remain button allows you to choose which pads MFX is applied to when turned on. Something worth noting here is that if you play a sample from any pad after setting the effected pads with the remain button, it'll override your selections and put the MFX onto the "active pad" you just pressed.

I hope that made some kind of sense.
