for me, i love sampling obscure sounds n try to produce a musical side of it
edit* be sure to join the beat battles yeah, you will make yourself learn many new stuff and different ways on making beats. this is a real sp-skills school
Sometimes when I'm bored, I flip & dig through thrift store vinyl. There's a lot of crud, easy listening, classical, Christian/gospel, but sometimes you find a decent funk or disco record. Anyway, sometimes if I keep seeing the same artist of someone I'm not familiar with, I'll pick 1 out of the multitudes, get it home, and if it's something I'd find interesting, I'll later go back and pick up some more. Sometimes it was a wasted buck, because I just didn't care for it. Now and then I try to find the worst cover art, or the weirdest, just to see if it's any good. Once in awhile garage sales fit this bill as well.
