I usually get rid of most samples after a while.

A lot of them come from the contests' samples and although some of it is nice and re-usable, there's a lot of junky pieces and leftovers from those samples in there too. I tend to keep my SP-606 cards clean of those, but it depends.. sometimes you can resample a simple click sound or noise into something new and much better.

My actual sample database is a collection of quite clean samples or instrument sounds which is mostly back-upped on my PC. I have to say though that at the moment I'm still really building my own sample database and that's why most of my compact flash cards are near empty so I can sample, resample and so on without having to care about whether my good samples get lost in the process.
