A synth is always good...but what are you using to record ?

I agree that a synth could be a nice addition to your set-up.

I'm using a Kaoss Pad Kp3 with my 404.... It's a cool combo.

you can't go wrong w/ an analog synth

My personal favorite is the Alpha Juno 2.
It's capable of everything from super warm and rich sweeping pads, to deep crunchy basslines. It's fairly inexpensive too.

If you choose to get a synth - it's all about finding one that compliments your style. I suggest going to your local used gear shop (ahem, not guitar
center :D )

u can get a realistic concertmate MG-1 ...its made by moog. Its analog and easy to use and makes some FAT sounds ! U can get them for around $250. Then u got some extra doh to bu records or something ;)

Word, that's the cheapest real moog that you can find. It was sold under the Radio Shack brand "Realistic" but was actually manufactured in the moog factory with the same components as moog's low end model.
