Soundcloud are scamming?

Post by l i f »

Did a track a little while ago for Sunday Sample Crunch, which is a fb-group/radio-show dude who sets up weekly flip/remix challenges and compiles tracks from beat battle communities (STBB, Battle Flips, Art of Sampling, etc etc... GrenDutch knows what I'm talking about...)

Anyways, they have a pretty good following.

Part 2: I usually put my sc tracks up for free download and can expect on average anything from say 0 - 30 downloads on any one track which I think is pretty fair for a young sc account and the amount of followers/ppl i follow.
Except this one track suddenly about two weeks after uploading like blew up and started getting 24 dowloads per day... this continued until it reached the 100 download limit on the free sc plan and sc suggested I upgrade to pro.

SO i did, and I'm glad i did cause the deal was pretty cheap, there's some good features besides the better stats-info you get.. BUT

This particular track (and only this track) continued to get mad plays and downloads.

Exactly 24 per day.
Never from a logged-in soundcloud user
Always from USA

This track has now been download 997 times and sc messages me I'm about to hit the 1000 download limit, suggesting I upgrade to super-duper-pro-plan.

SUSS. SPEKT. Or, what do folks here say?

Here's the track I'm talking about:

yeah, i'd be concerned, you do really good work, but i don't think that's your best work, even thought its still good. why that track? seems weird.

If the downloads are legit, then yeh - no accounting for ppl's taste, right lol!

I mean, it took less than five minutes to make the chops and then took no longer to record than the length of the acapella, since I jammed the pads live straight to cassette. Some kids in Atlanta are dancing Jass to that raw London grime stylee..

But it's too random for me to believe otherwise than that sc is doing this to entice users into pay-plans. Guess I'm just wondering if it's happened to anyone else.

Men,be careful there, don't know if this is the case, but there is some guys out there on soundcloud who steal other's people beats and sell them, can't remember some guy´s name specifically who was doing that shit...
