sp555 or 707?

Post by shmedy »

hello everyone,
i was reading about the 555 deciding to get one or not, and some people seem to suggest waiting for the 707. I cant find any info on these. are they real? does anyone have any info?

the 707 is all speculation at this point. But im very sure that Roland is cooking up a new SP to replace the 606 as we speak.

Whatever they name it, it should be pretty cool.

I'm wondering if they are going to name it different... I mean SP-555 has a nice ring to it and is pretty catchy. Perhaps they are going to call a new SP, SP-706 or something.

The new Roland SP seven 'o six, out now!

Yeah, that could work, has a nice ring to it as well. 8)

You know what would be really fresh feature to add... Multiple mark points on a single sample. Think about it. Say u got a 30 second sample. u find 4 spots in there u like. As the sample plays hit the mark button at the spots in the samples u wanted to mark. And then the first time u hit the pad you trigger the first portion, the second time you trigger the pad it will trigger the 2nd portion and so on. That would save tons of time.

The 505 will chop and place samples to pads automatically which is basically the same but with the option to play the samples in a non-linear manner. Just a thought.

I think they should name the new sp (if there is one) the sp666.... and go back to the old black and red colour scheme.

It should be the BOSS SP-3.14 since all we do is play with loops, which is another form of circles. I never liked the roland name, BOSS sounds much better to me.

i just came in here to create a topic about copping the 555 or waiting for the 707.

i wonder how roland will approach this. wheter they will go the 202,303, 404 route or go for something bigger. i hope they stick to the former "smaller" template.

i also hope the get rid of that silver colour.

I really like the silvery white color the mv-8800 has though.... but I think I understand where you are coming from. I didn't quite like the look of the SP-555 either, even though that did not stop me from buying it.

I hope they will make a new version of more or less the SP-606 bút with more features of the Mv-8800... but my guess is they won't and stick with the smaller template instead.
