Trouble connecting SP to audio interface

Post by thehusges »

Hiya all. New to the SP, and I'm sure this has been answered before but I can't find it, and things that happen to come all seem like variations to the problem. So I have my 404, my scarlett 2i4 audio interface and my macbook pro. I'm trying to record my patterns I have on my 404 into logic, but I can't get any sounds coming from my laptop with everything connected. I have my RCAs running from my line out on my 404 into the lines in the back of the interface, which is connected to laptop via usb. Not sure if it's a settings issue, but heres a screenshot of my preferences. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

You need a 1/4" to RCA cable to connect to the front of the Focusrite 2i4's combo-jacks (XLR and/or 1/4") because the RCAs and 1/4" (on the back) are outputs.

1/2 is shared between RCA and 1/4" outputs.
3/4 is only RCA output.

Also, look for Audio MIDI setup in your Finder that should tell you what's going on as far as input/output.

Awesome, yeah I ended up figuring that out when I was messing with it! So I have my 404 running an RCA cable out to a 1/4 cable going to the front input of my focusrite, but when I run it though logic, it's only playing through my left monitor? I tried the next input next to it but that only started playing it through the right monitor that time. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your reply though, it really helped.

RCA to separate 1/4" like this:

Without being right there, that would be the easiest solution.

You should be able to set-up MONO monitoring in your system or DAW (Logic, in your case), too.

Good info here.

My silly question will be:

I have Sp404sx and Tascam 2x2 interface.

I want to sample from ableton/computer and record 404 into ableton without unplugging cards/cords.

So if I connect 404's line out with 1/2 Tascam input's and connect Tascam line out with 404 line in I end up okay or burning something via loop?
