If you need a sample from NES, Gameboy, Mega drive or Master System, hit me up and tell me what you need, coz I have hacked consoles with full game collections for these consoles. Honestly, I can tell when you sample 8bit sounds from a computer or emulator. Nothing beats the real chip sound and that's the whole point of sampling 8bit stuff anyway

I reckon preferablly get the sample directly from a console of some sort, but I guess if you don't have the particular game you want or something that site could be a last resort.

in regards to your second question, perhaps not certain games cause there is such a wide variety of samples out there to be scoped out, but perhaps more so limit the consoles so perhaps old SNES, sega genesis, nintendo 64, old atari, old gameboys (ideally GB colour at the newest), perhaps as late as PS1, as this still carried 8bit sound with it i believe. others need to chime in on this though. i feel as long as its old school 8bit and not some ps4 shit it should be g. just my opinion on it tho

Some of the PSX sounds were very compressed due to the limitation of the format, sonto save space sometimes it is very noticeable. The older arcade machines can't be recreated in emulators because they usually had their own sound chip per-generation (CPS3, CPS1 can sound quite different).

I'm down for us getting samples how ever we need though staying away from the new gen stuff would be best.

No later than N64/PSX/DC era, but even the DC had some full-band stuff so it just depends on the games I guess.

There is a guy out here in the 'net that converted some of the NES soundtracks into glorious stereo. Not always my jam but hearing the 8bit sounds with awesome imaging was almost tear inducing. Beautiful sh*t!

EDIT: Pretty sure my homie is up fore sampling his SNES. Taking 404 and plan on sitting there a grip. Not sure what I'm going to grab but I will share what ever.

im in the middle of my semester (australia) but have enough time to make beats so im not too fussed. whats everyone feeling is a good amount of time to submit by? 1 month? 3 weeks? 2 weeks? more? less?
