and it's a big but.

I've recorded some patterns, but now I find out that I can't set the tempo for seperate sequences..... Basically the thing loads a default bpm when I turn it on, and all my patterns play back at the wrong tempo.

So If I want to gig the thing, I have to reset the tempo between songs to get the patterns to play back at the right speed.

Is this right? or can you set the machine up to play certain patterns at certain tempos?

Pleas ehelp, because this is a huge issue for me.

You always have to change the pattern.

oh... ok well, I think I can live with that. I think it's a bit of a fuck up on roland's part, but whatever

Awesome machine in all other respects though. Not that difficult to work if you read the manual.

Yeah, reading is very important since there is no screen.

On workaround would be, if you have shows where you play the loops constantly to make the pattern, then track the beat out and then sample it back in the sp-404. That way you have the loop as one. Then activate 'loop' on the sp-404 so your resampled pattern loops. That way you can have as many patterns you want all with the fixed bpm. Press the pad once to activate the loop and again to deactivate. The machine has a fucked up learning curve, but once you got it there seem to be workarounds for everything.
