Control SP-202 Effects with DR-202?

Hey! Hope somebody can help me out...

i bought a dr-202 off ebay (seems fine, just the pads aren't really sensitive) and paired it up with my sp-202.

i looked in the Manual how to hook them up with midi. no Problem. But the Manual says something like "you can control the SP-202 Effects like Filter or Time Stretch with the Knobs of the DR-202"

They write it in the Manual that you CAN do it but not HOW

hope someone can help


(btw. how can i open the Thing up to get to the pads to clean them a bit? there is a big "copper plate" when you open the box and i don't get it how to remove it without breaking. it seems it's Held together near the Data-Wheel)

man i got a dr202 too, as far as i remember sometimes i noticed that fx end filter knobs controlled some other machines parameter, but i thought it was just by chance (but at the time i was a noob on midi)
now, maybe try to set on dr202 midi channel of EXT part to communicate with sp202 midi channel (it has to be the same midi channel) and then set midi control change to ON on the dr202 (you found that on the midi parameters, called midi control chg)...try all that with all the right setting on the sp202, who knows...im not surpised at all if it works, because the 2 machines were conceived to work together (it was the period of groodveboxes at the time so we had electribes es1 working with ea1, yamaha su200 working with yamaha an200-dx200 etc)...

The Setting you named is already turned on and yesterday i tried it again to figure it out but still no luck.

I've read both Manuals Midi-Pages but can't find the info i Need. in the dr-202-manual it says "you can control the effects like filter or time Stretch with the knobs of the dr-202" but no luck until today.

those two 202's are a nice match by the way.

edit: i just called the Roland Support (Switzerland) and even they can't help me out :-/

i ve read that phrase on the manual....
i dont know but check also the midi expression, who knows

yea the patterns are good too, going to get a midi cable and see how to use sample drums with dr202 drum n bass patterns .
