303 vs. 404 Speed
Hey all, first time posting here. Glad to finally join the community! I currently use a 303 but sometimes find it takes a while to load and chop samples. For this reason I'm looking to upgrade to a 404 in the near future. Can anyone who has used both machines comment on the difference in speed between the two? How much faster are you able to work (sample, resample, etc.) with CompactFlash as opposed to SmartMedia cards? Thanks in advance.

Re: 303 vs. 404 Speed
i own and love 'em both.
The 404 (OG) is a lot faster than the 303 in Terms of processing things (wait after sample/resample, deleting). Importing samples takes a while too on the OG (Manual says: The required time for importing will be approximately the same as the actual playback time of the audio file. )
btw: i only use a 16mb SmartMedia in my 303 and mostly only use Banks C-D because the internal Memory is so slow. The 64mb Card was (a good amount) slower than the 16mb.

Keep the 303 and add a 404 to the setup. You can bounce shit back and forth.

i agree with Dirty Banks.
keep both for bouncing and bypassing the polyphony issues.
I've got the 303 and the 404sx. resample and delete are waay faster on the 404. copy and exchange are also nice to have. i'd never sell my 303.... or my 404 haha
