SP-404SX > SP-555?

it seems to me that the triple 5 is a 404 with loop capture, extra pads and the ability to be an audio interface/controller.

but the 404 seems to be the most loved sp.

why is that?

I only ask 'cause I’m considering buying a 3ed sp and I’m thinking it'll be between the SP-808, SP-404SX or the SP-555.

the 808 has that zip drive issue, and would require me buying a MULTI CARD READER off ebay and they go for about $250-$300. it would be do-able for me, especially since it has faders on it's tracks and acts as hard disk recorder, I already have 2 menu divers though and I wanted to try the mark button thing, Plus I heard it doesn’t have a sequencer, that would be a deal breaker for me.

that leaves the 555 and 404.


but I just don't see much of a difference besides the ones I mentioned above.

is there some difference between the two that I’m not seeing?
