my 404 broke after a few months, is it worth replacing?

Post by turtley »

i bought a used 404 sx off ebay a while back and it worked for a while but recently it's been completely fucked up. it adds a high end crunchy hiss whenever i resample. i thought it might be the power cord (im using the psb 1u or whatever it's called) but i tried it with batteries and got the same problem. i brought it in to a local spot to get repaired and they couldnt figure it out. i called around and it sounds like my only option is to replace the entire board which costs about as much as a used sp. i really love the 404 and have done my best work on that thing but i can't keep throwing money into it if it breaks this regularly.
have you experienced a similar problem? do sp samplers just break really easily?
ps nothing happened to it it just started hissing out of the blue

ive had a 404sx since 2012 (i think) .. no issues yet .. probably just a miss-treated unit by previous owner . get a brand new 1 .. if cashflow allows ..

outside of beatmaking .. the MFX alone are worth the money. look @ price of effects units with as many features nd you'll know

peace 1 1
