Recording and sampling back to IOS

Post by Eighch »

Anyone have any experience interfacing their sp with an iphone/ipad?
Ultimately im looking to record/sequence stuff off the sp onto my iphone.
Is it as simple as running a a TRRS 1/8 to rca? Do i need something like an IRig?

I've been sampling/recording with my Ipad. It can't be done with just a
normal cable - you need something like Irig or an usb audio interface
connected with CCK (camera connection kit). I have a mixer that works
as a soundcard. Behringer UCA-222 seems to be a cheap and popular
option for this at least with Ipad - I don't know if the Iphone has enough
to give power to it.

I tested the Roland SP-606 for audio-out a while back and it works with no issues. I can't remember if I tested the USB sample functionality, but I'm 99% sure that works.

For reference, I used an iPad 2 and an official Apple CCK.

If you want stereo in on your iPad/iPhone you have to get an interface.
I have a Roland duo-capture that doesn't need batteries and works off my phone/pad with cck. There's a duo-capturemk2 but I'm not sure of the difference.

I'd assume (I don't have an iOS product) that you can run a 1/8'' to RCA from iphone/ipad to the Output of the SP 404 and then record from a native iOS program?

You know what happens when you assume

OP, please listen to the first three replies above. You will need an interface or camera connection kit adapter of some kind in order to record audio into your ipad. For the record, I wrote this response on my ipad. Good luck, and may the force be with you!
