I've been thinking of doing this too... but only for final mix down.

Why not mastering straight to computer from the 4 track? the mastering to tape will degrade the mix IMO.

Exactly what I want... a little loss in quality... a little gain in oomph. Then back into the computer for final mastering.

if u are serious about cassette recording. i would suggest getting a 3-head cassette deck for mastering to tape if u dont allready. In case u (or anyone else) doesnt know the advantage of a 3-head cassette recorder, you can listen to the results of your newly recorded cassette as its recording. so u can monitor and make adjustement on the spot rather than trial and error. but a quality tape deck will cost good money and they are harder to find nowadays, and most newer cassette decks cant handle too much abuse either. I always find myself looking at the brolic 20 year old cassette decks in pawn shops, dont know who to trust.
