time stretching

hi! i have a sp 404 and i record some samples from vinil tapping the tempo but when i do time stretching with it it makes always sound deterioration even when i change just 1 or 2 bpm to the sound and in sounds that are continous its worst.what am i doing wrong? i wanna know also how can i do pitch shifting in this machine to a sample...please help me thanks

please post in correct area.
pitch shifting on SP's is pretty lousy; it's a common complaint.

i would say the sp-404 area. or maybe production techniques.
