Resample Challenge 12 - CLOSED - POLL IS UP

Post by janglesoul »

Hi there,
Time to start a new exciting resampling round. OTBT has contributed a carefully compiled track with percussive noises. I might have gone overboard with a few samples to many - iphone field recordings of street musicians and some noise from my grandfathers old Grundig tube radio.

As usual, use only these samples and your SP. No outside anything, except 202-users are allowed to bounce to an external recorder.

Hope you find it inspiring - good luck!

Just created that Mediafire-account. Let me know if you have trouble downloading.

EDIT May 29: Forgot to set a deadline for the challenge. June 19 is Midsummer Eve in Sweden. How's that? (15 downloads so far, hope someone picks up the glove).

EDIT Aug 10: The old deadline was forgotten by every but ArizonaAl. Right now it's all open: Let's give it another week or two and a few more entries and we could have a poll!?

Yo, I missed it... if i don't catch shxt in "active topics" it's gone by me usually...

Midsommar was a fair while ago. Feels like autumn already here, crap summer..

I could take a look at the sample pack i guess... not got much else on atm besides remodelling our kitchen ;) .. and another week off before I'm back at work..

Yo jangle! I caught those guys on kungsgatan just before xmas doing christmas carol medleys... i stood and watched them for about 45 fxcking minutes in the freezing cold! ( afterwards I flicked 'em 50 crowns and told them they were a gift to humanity... the musicianship on display was too real)

A buzz to hear it in the sample pack! I forget mosttimes we live in the same city ??!!?

What are the guidelines for this? Basically same idea as the battles? Just creating a track from the samples?

Damn! Sorry for neglecting this. Summer is crazy times. I'm away from my SP but I'll try to get something done real soon - hopefully in the beginning of next week.

Yep. But you if you like you might take the resampling opportunities of your SP one step further. Sculpting and changing sounds til the original samples can't be recognized etc. Create a whole orchestra from a single note, or a whole drumkit from a creaking door etc.

Ha! Glad to hear you like it. They sure are amazing. And Kungsgatan is right where I recorded them. Don't really know what kind of instrument that is. Some kind of zither played with mallets? I think they come back every Christmas.

Field recording on the streets is really tricky. So much low freq background noise that your ears never hear when you're there, but when you come home...

(Btw, you gig out, right? Let me now when and I'll be glad to drop by if I can make it).

... larger ones are called cymbalom...

the backbone of Romanian Gypsy music - check Taraf de Haidouks

I played out a few months ago... hoping to line up some gigs for the second half of the year - I'll let you know. Should meet up casually anyway!

So is this still active or what? Way past vote date but I see no vote. Cool samples- good selection for a resample challenge.
