Been amazed at MNDSGN's work lately and was wondering how much effort he puts into making his beats.

Now there is this video of him doing his little thing and this dude makes it look like a breeze!

Fuck man... that is the sorta flow I have been looking for coming from a performing acoustic/jazz background. Might actually have to try to figure out Live.

Seeing him build without stopping is insane... that something Live is known for or was that clever usage?

Any Ableton peeps in here? Really curious how he is able to build all of that without really stopping anything.

EDIT: Getting it figured out. Recording clips with my drumset & mixer instantly blew my mind. Always have been looking for a way to build blocks using my acoustic instruments in Logic 9 without using punch in/out... this is real smooth so far. /lateasfucktosomeshit

I think he just arms new tracks for recording while everything is still playing. The program isn't called 'live' for nothing

Been balls deep in the program since you posted this video.

Figuring it out pretty easily - diggin' the potential so far.
And as usual, so much more to learn!

Yo, I scored Ableton a few months ago and it's obviously a stupidly powerful platform... I've not had the energy or time to break away from my tried and true sp but there's the summer for some serious self-education on LIVE... daunted for sure - i have a short attn:span

mndsgn geez... just pure musician-skills, there's magic in chooordsss.

@lif - I've been stumbling my way through it. I'm not really digging into anything crazy yet, so far I've primarily been using it to create loops/clips of my acoustic instruments. Then I will go back through and garnish my drums with some live SP/MPC playing, so far - so good!

If you have an audio interface you can start getting the idea of Live (creating clips and using the arranger view to... arrange!) by simply playing your SP into separate tracks. Dial in the metronome in Live, find some drum sounds and jam out to the tempo.

Depending on how you want to go, you can play each drum into their own audio tracks (then group them to save screen space), then play your chops/synth/bass/farts into other audio tracks.

Anyway, you're not alone in your exploration. This is my third time(?) trying to figure this thing out but it is making way more sense this time around for what ever reason.
