SP-555 Will Not Turn On

I've had my SP for about 6 months now, and its been working fine up until a week ago. I took out my memory card to load my exported samples onto my computer (the SP was off this whole time) and then the next time I went to use it..nothing. I've been using a power adapter from the guy I bought it from, it is not the official SP-555 charger or whatever. Could this be the issue? Is it fixable if I use the designated charger? I wish I had more info to give. I'm not at home to see what sort of power adapter it is, but I'll check.

I'll be seriously bummed if this thing is busted for good, but what can you do...

Check the card reader for bent pins. Also try another power supply. Btw, what are the exact specs of the power supply you are using?

It's an enercell 3-12v 1A thing. I didn't know it it was variable to be honest. Could I have accidentally switched the power too high and blown it or something? I know very little about these things, and i should've been more aware.

Only if you had set it to more than 9 V.

Well I went and bought a new adapter. Everything appears to be working normally now. Thanks for your help! Big relief.
