Good keyboard/piano tutorials online? Tips & Tricks

Yo guys, looking for some decent keyboard/piano tips/tutorials online, youtube or whatever...I know basic music theory, good amount of chords etc now trying to tie it all together...i'm more of a guitarist/drummer but trying to improve my keys.

Don't really care about scale/mode/fingering stuff as much as like, cool chord inversions, jazzy tricks, "rhodes" style runs (glissandos i guess?) , sort of R&B/70s soul type playing. Any thoughts?

check that book out. I'm also trying to improve my playing. I got that and a 2 others. I'm still working through that book but the way it teaches you to play an remember chords(major, minor, diminished, augmented, ect) is pretty easy. I kinda wish I learned it this way to begin with.

All you need is the magic of 5ths. 5ths make the world go round. Play with mixing 5ths + bass notes. Anything you want is in 5ths. *SOMETIMES* 4ths.

For solos, learn scales. And then play them over 5ths.

I've definitely enjoyed many of your trx up on the cloud. Shits good tho.
Are you building on previously learned keyboard/piano skills or beginning the approach to learning the keys?

I've been contemplating starting piano lessons first hand, locally on weekends or maybe buying a guide in one form or another.
hseiken's advice sounds good for beatmaking and a way to get to the meat for the beats. Full on lessons sound like a long term endeavor, while your beats are just waiting for you... depends on your goal of course.
Both ways requires discipline.

I think the idea that practise/lessons takes away from your creative output is false. My experience is that everytime I set aside time to study I multiply my output instead. Every new chord I learn results in ten new song ideas, every little lick you learn is a new starting point that can take your songs/beats in new interesting directions.
I also think that if you've got that approach to your studies you get a lot more motivated. Plus, you get a lot more fluent on your instrument when you start to blend parts from different lessons with each other.

It's never too late! Focus on practise for a month and the rest of the year will be so much more rewarding!

BTW, didn't mean anything about the thread being old. I've seen a lot of old threads resurface recently, and I don't mind it at all. It can be a good way to bring up old tips again.Though, the people who was active back then might not be prepared to reply right now.
