RAK: Complex and interesting, nice and varied beat. Lots of different cool sounds, and as usual a great songlike structure.

Chopperman: Good, shuffling beat. Really nice reverb on those lonely hits, you seem really good at getting a nice airiness in your tracks.

OTBT: Wow, this is 3D cinemascope, dolby surround straight from the campfire deep into the Amazonas. I find it really amazing.

Asha C: Great stuff. Something in there makes me think of Velvet Underground Really nice moment when the door to craziness opens up at 30 sec.

janglesoul: I had great fun and really enjoyed the challenge of sound design and sculpting. As I mentioned in some other thread I've been reading quite a few Brian Eno-interviews lately. What I blushingly found in this challenge was my will to "tame" and "domesticate" the sounds. Instead of letting the sounds take me in unusual directions I went ahead to construct some kind of drum kit and a "leslie organ" - all very pedestrian and "home turf" - for me as a regular songwriter. I'll try to be a bit more adventurous next time.

Therefore, it was fascinating to see how much diversity could brought out from all those musical toy sounds! I enjoyed all the beats a lot, but the cinematic sound of OTBT was literally out of this world. Well done! I vote OTBT.

probably because of the nice airiness in my head. kidding aside, i appreciate that! i think i am drawn to minimalist art because i'm often overwhelmed by the amount i let in as well as the amount i wish to push out. so i've been trying to simplify and organize. really helps relieve my damn anxiety. so does treating the forums like my journal. please excuse me

also prefer minimalist stuff because it doesn't take as much of my ever-dwindling free time. i like how there's less pressure in creating quickly since its less devastating if you fail your vision

RAK: NICE creepy dark intro, loved how it came in with the beat, really great use of the samples!!! really well structured too.

JANGLESOUL 1: Man loved this one as soon as I heard it!!! Amazing how you get the sounds sounding so different and so "real instrument" sounding. Also love the subtle drums, good work !!!

CHOPPERMAN: Love the rhythm you got going on!! sounded really cool when the recorder sounds came in too, nice chilled vibe!! Can imagine it in some kung fu movie where the main character is getting into some deep tai chi!! Good work

JANGLESOUL 2: sounds real sweeter than the first!!!! AMAZED how you managed to get those sounds from the samples, really nicely done!!! great drums, great organ sounds, damn GREAT everything!!!!

OTBT: beautiful ambient sounds!!! As Janglesoul said, really cinematic!!! could imagine this in some documentary about the rain forest or something!!! Got even more intense as it went on!! gave out some futuristic sic fi vibe!

Gonna vote for Janglesoul 2. They were all amazing and it really is amazing at how much variety and quality can come from such simple samples in these resample challenges!! Look forward to the next one!

Thanks for the vote Asha C! Glad you like it. I basically made my whole tune from a single flute-note. The Chromatic Pitch in SP-404sx is often frowned upon for what it isn't, but for tuning stuff and creating chords there's a lot that can be done. For the leslie I used MFX10 Wah, and kept one hand on the rate knob to let the speed ramp up and down while playing

Chopperman: I hear you about the minimalist stuff. Gotta try that route!

Cool! My first ever trophy, honoured to share it with OTBT!
What now? I'm quite new to the concept of resample challenges. Various vaguely music-resembling field recordings might be on my drive somewhere, if that would sound interesting.

Congrats on your first trophy! 8) Mutual honor man! :D
I think own samples can be more "challenging"... I'll make some samples and PM it to you, so you post the next battle, if it's ok..?
Thank you Chopperman!
