Acoustic Drummers that have expierence with Interfaces

Post by VinylCani »

What are some great interfaces to record a live acoustic kit? I'm having trouble finding the right one and I thought why not ask the SP community.
Thank you!

How many pieces/mics are you planning to use?
Rough room dimensions?

Nerd extra credit: what type of shells do you have? (Maple, birch, arcrylic, etc)

EDIT: The dimensions thing might seem random but trust in the fact many mics in a tiny room WILL be a headache.

I use a tascam 1641 (now turned into an 1800 I think) interface for drum kit/guitars etc. It is cheap, has lots of inputs, and works fine.

It lacks 'distinctive' preamps (ie, no mojo/soul/character) but you get what you put it - get some decent mics and placement and tuned up drums and it sounds great for a home studio.
