having multiple kit sounds on 1 pad for easy access

hey folks! just started doing this myself and curious who else does. I'd imagine so as it puts all of those un edited sound kits (instead of a folder of snares, i'd get 1 track with all of them like wtf!? I started with fl studio ) i used to find on the net in context.

What i did was got a bunch of samples organized and mixed them together in a sequence on 1 track. I then plopped them on my SP and now have 1 bank devoted to all of my drum kit sounds.

What I'll end up doing is when i start a beat is i'll go to my drum sounds, hold the pad until i find the right sound (counting up to it as i have multiple sounds on 1 pad but being played in sequence/not the same time lol). then i'll copy+paste it to the other soundbank and chop the drum out.

Seems to streamline the shit out of things for me as before i'd be browsing through my folders for kicks and recording them on the sp, but this way i don't have to mess around browsing folders on the computer. The sounds better quality because i'm not recording or resampling.

I can than just record whatever drum breaks and other samples and get to making the beat.

I have a memory card with the backup banks full of 808s and sub bass that I recorded onto one pad for each back up. Each time the 808 hits it goes up in pitch. The back up banks each have different decays. I use these when I'm too lazy to get off the couch and use a real drum machine.

I have done this too. I also have a little yamaha PR-7 recorder, I filled it´s memory with all kinds of drum and percussion samples, so I can just browse the drums on there and record the one I like, no need for marking since I can have samples separately on there, just press "next" to hear the next sample.
