So I got a iPad the other day...

Post by Headphones »

And so far, I see great potential with it for my studio. I'll pick up an Alesis iDock2 for it, plug it up to my SP505, and it should be fun to use the programs I can dl and use to sample/chop/exchange to my 505. I want to see if it will record my results, so I can upload them to Soundcloud. Just was curious if anybody here is having good results with the iPad and their SP's, any good programs to check out, etc. Thanx!

I'm getting my SP505 back from a friend today, so I can't wait to connect the 2, and see what the effects can do to some of the Ios synths/drum loops I've added to my collection of programs. I still need to invest in a Alesis iDock, but that's next month.

Just buy the Apple camera connection kit for $30 and it allows your iPad to have a USB input. I use this to connect usb audio interfaces, usb hubs, midi controllers, usb midi in/out and usb memory card readers. Been doing it this way since my 1st gen iPad and then once I upgraded to an iPad with a lightning connector I got the new adapter for that one too.

A lot of good apps. Audio Share is necessary. And nano studio.

I am sold on the idea of an iPad being a mobile recorder/synthesizer.
AniMoog is beyond amazing... Borderlands granular synth... sheeeeit.

Already got Samplr, animoog is eventually on my list. Still never got that Alesis iDock thing! :x

I'm still making payments off this thing, but I'm glad I grabbed it when I did, because I heard all the other ones the rental store got were faulty! Mine has had ZERO problems! No viruses, not too many crashes, and tons of ways to make beats.

Korg Gadget is my weapon of choice right now.. 8)

The iPad is definitely a vital player in the mobile-music-makin' world.
It would be the boss for some of my location gigs. Kinda wet dream status.

Thanks for the heads up y'all, i got a nice list of apps to add on my iPad mini now. Had been looking around if this thing could be useful in a beatmaking setup somehow, turns out it could be the MAIN THANG (or almost)

hey, i'm thinking of buying an ipad 2 air, mainly for daily internet browsing and stuff. but i may want to use it for music production as well.

i'm currently using a sp303 and sp404og, my idea is to use the ipad to sequence one of the sps via midi and record that with the other to build up a couple of patterns. then i want to record the individual patterns back to the ipad to arrange them and bounce back to sp's for them fx. is the ipad capable of doing this? and which apps and hardware (camera connection kit, usb audio interface for ipad) can u recommend? thanks.
