So a friend of mind recently relinked me to this awesome interview with Culp: https://planetarybeats.wordpress.com/2013/08/28/an-e-mail-exchange-with-culp/

I had read it before but this time around something really, really stood out to me. In it he states that the music he produces is for "serious fun" which rang a bell in my head.

Suddenly I realized that I had been going about beat making the wrong way and that somewhere a long the line it became a chore instead of something I loved and enjoyed. All the self-imposed limitations that I had developed overtime were hindering my ability to create music that I like and enjoyed. So I picked up a cobra 40oz and said

"fuck it, let's have some fun with this!"
