How to bounce to VHS?

Post by TheDingo »

Yo would anybody care to explain the process of bouncing tracks to VHS for me? I've been listening to a lot of music on bandcamp that says it was bounced using VHS tapes and I'm not sure how that's done, but it sounds really warm. What are the advantages/disadvantages to bouncing to tape?
thanks :)

Get a VCR with the SVHS symbol (super VHS). Plug your RCA from SP output to RCA input on the VCR. Insert VHS tape. Press Record.

Some VHS players/recorders require you to use a dummy video cable plugged in the yellow RCA port in order to capture audio. Some don't. Experiment around to see what works for you.

Thanks so much. Yeah I just didn't know what kind of vcr I would need. So does the vhs compress the sound like cassette tape or does it just add hazy grit? I've also heard that it doesn't do anything, I'd just like to know if it's worth driving to the thrift store :)
