I feel like Im having trouble with my drumming.Any tips for getting into a good groove and also ways to judge how fast your drums should be?
The way I make a beat on the sp is to make a drum loop and then try to play chops over the resampled drum loop.Ive never been able to play over a full 2 bar or so loop because of the way i do my beats but honestly thats the only way I know without using a metronome and the sequencer.Any advice on how to stay off the grid and that beeping thing and still get drums to fit over a full loop?
Thanks

i use that to have a better "drummer feeling"
Re: DBZ Beat....need some feedback:)
cool Ill have to look that up...thanks man!
Re: DBZ Beat....need some feedback:)
What works for me is chopping up a drum pattern, slowing it down and adding delay to it. This throws off the bpm of the original loop and adds grit and low-end to it. If you chop it on every fourth beat and play it at the original or at a higher rate, with delay on the drums, you get some crazy swinging rhythms.
Try it out! Have fun with it

Check this one out https://soundcloud.com/spwarlock/nyu ...on this I recorded the hats first with my own groove...THEN I resampled some other hits to finish it up and it seems like Im getting closer to what I'm after.Oh and when you said add delay you meant to each individual hit right...Im still kinda confused(Im a little slow with this kind of stuff haha).

You're on the right path. You should resample you drums AGAIN and add some delay to them to create an even more complex groove.SpWarlock wrote:Check this one out https://soundcloud.com/spwarlock/nyu ...on this I recorded the hats first with my own groove...THEN I resampled some other hits to finish it up and it seems like Im getting closer to what I'm after.Oh and when you said add delay you meant to each individual hit right...Im still kinda confused(Im a little slow with this kind of stuff haha).
just keep working at it, you'll get it soon enough.

Do you mean resample the whole loop?Or just trigger delay at certain hits?Shits got me confused haha
Re: DBZ Beat....need some feedback:)
sorry, i should be more clear.. i'm explaining this to you as i do it on my 808 and i just now realize that it's probably way different on your sp.SpWarlock wrote:Do you mean resample the whole loop?Or just trigger delay at certain hits?Shits got me confused haha
I'll try to make a video explaining the technique later.
