Does anyone do this? I do it at times and my cables bring soo much air into the sample. I was wondering if any does this do they experience the same thing.

If you are using a cable, I can't see why that would impact the source sample in a way that is noticeable? Are you using a stereo mini to stereo rca cable?

I have used that setup before as well, but now I have a single cable that is mini stereo on one end, and rca (red, white) on the other end. It's just more convenient. I got it at Radio Shack.

But, in both setups, I've never heard anything like what you described.

I'm gonna buy a better quality cable with the same ends as yours. I did buy my y adapter at a thrift shop; it's probably bad

Turn your phone up to 75%-90% to raise the signal to noise ratio but not all the way so there's some headroom for the sp to work with.

Yo Wal, can you explain a bit more... Why not max/100% on iPhone (or any sound source, for that matter) as you can adjust the drive lower on the SP (or any recorder/sampler)?

I'm not saying that I do 100%, by the way.

You can turn it to 100% and it will probably work fine but turning it down just a bit adds some room for the SP to add its own gain to the signal if you need it. If it's at 100% it will clip sooner with less gain added.

Appreciate the suggestion. I'm gonna try that and see what's good.
