I went with Fresh, the vocal is what did it for me, that and the honest/off-kilterness I fell in love - i downloaded this one and had it on repeat prolly 20-30 times a day over three days before christmas... seriously - that vocal was a sweet earworm.

Blavatsky, your track was totally worth the wait - gfriend vox are sweet and the basslines sick. My runner-up this week.

Alnitak - too bad about the gear issues, f*kin headache. Reckon shit was hot in those 30 seconds, ripe for resample to make good of the situation. Whats the solution for the turntable shit in sp?

Ella - the blues... ha! You do great drum work.

Gis - this track makes a great intro into the whole 171 playlist i think... which I've def. spun a whole bunch of times since making (if anyone is interested) (sorry ella - get yr ass on soundcloud aleady ;) ) to save opening every track on a new tab]::: Tracks lead into the next great flow - 'nother impromptu mixtape on our hands

Here: >>> 171 171 171 171 171 <<<

Beetek - great to see you back! You're a dad now, right?! God Jul och Gott Nytt År!! Swells are psychadelic.

OTBT nice banger! wrecksmallspeakers.

inspirational use of resampling from everyone this round.

gis: dug the cinematic vibe as always. tycho with a dark edge. nice.
l i f: crazy sounds. super high energy. great track. remember that ps1 game "rollcage"?
serf: killer vox. nice vibes. little jagged for me but i appreciate the style for sure.
otbt: like the dirty kick and bass. soundin screw face.
beetek: i like the root notes. real smooth. good sidechain suck.
blavatsky: variation city. tons of interest for me. sick drums. how'd you get those filtered snare roll sounds?
ella: good choice with the bitey drums, really suit the style. cool bassline too.

interesting round in terms of genres thrown around.
going with BLAVATSKY on this one.

@l i f
TT -> mixer -> 303
303 allows recording and resampling simultaneously
then just messed around with this practical japanese language 10" that i picked up a couple of weeks ago.

gis sweden - That was weird...

Freshserfpro - I'm digging those vocals. That was pretty chill.

l i f - "WTF?" was my expression when hearing this.

otbt - I'm digging the intro. Very boombap-ish. That bass is dope.

Obtainius - ooooh am feeling this one. This is the dopest one I've heard so far. *favorites on soundcloud*

Alnitak_Kid - Wtf? 31 seconds?

blavatsky - v grimey, i like them lo-fi drums.the change up was my favorite part, wish you would have developed it more..

ellaguru - w/ that box link! This beat's all over the place but i kind of like that.

Well, that was an interesting round. My vote definitely goes for OBTAINIUS (Beetek) as he had the most enjoyable track out of all the submissions. Good job meng!

gis sweden - tense, outer spacey, nice...soundtrack-y
Freshserfpro - nice MadLib-y voice pitch, some cool changes
l i f - frantic start, nice pace, like all the variation you got in there
otbt - hard hitting mix, liking the distorted bass
Obtainius - good sub bass, nice effect use throughout
Alnitak_Kid - interesting, wanted more than 30 seconds, nice snare
ellaguru - had me from panning intro, bass - liked dirty drums, kinda thom yorke-ish - got my vote!

To a couple questions/comments above
-Filtered snare I think was using the roll button with the D-beam filter, maybe a couple more effects after? (I use loop capture instead of resample, a lot faster)

-Appreciate the liking of vocals, definitely planning on doing more projects with both of them

-Yeah I agree the part at the end (change up) could have been developed more; I like the warbly BOC style chords, basically ran out of time both on the track (1:34 limit) and with the battle

Great time as always guys, looking fwd to doing it again

sorry for the short track dudes.
as I explained in the submission, I spent about 2 hours trying to get a decent scratch track and my 303 corrupted the final resample.
was too bitter to re-record

Fresh as other times done the best track for me, expecially that vocal work
blavatsky done a great work on dark atmosphere and inspirational dub snares and rolls
lif and gis for the different feel
obtanius for the coolness
Sorry guys but i have no good time to dedicate to the listening
Those are fruit of first impressions, I would have involved more time on it.
saying this my vote is indecided to blavatsky and my head going to "ciento settanta y uno" by Fresh :)
voted for blavatsky
ps
@ blavatsky
your impression on some tom yorke ish thing on my track are real, as I listened lately his collaboration between him, four tet and burial (another serious influence for my spbattle track this time)
