I don't get that impression at all actually. More the arrogant rantings of a sexually-frustrated teenager who's just discovered 'rebellion'. Not particularly constructive.
I actually agree with and am open to a lot of the kernels of ideas in there, but...
I'd love to see this thread go somewhere but it lacks a subject that I can readily identify. Or is it: how to get humanity back on track?
Broad topic. I share everyone's frustration with the willfully-ignorant, but am convinced that for most it is a fear/stress-response to the current climate of dis/mis-information, poverty and daily struggle. I personally do not think that the solution lies in the disciplines of computer-programming or evolutionary biology, though those disciplines certainly have a LOT to offer - in a nutshell I would put it that solutions may lie in reconciling the arts and sciences, which are the ultimate dichotomy in our time (yes, I agree with truthism-guy that Science has replaced Religion as the go-to dogma of our age) and that the scientific method has taken a perverted side-track from its humanistic roots after the Enlightenment.
Approach the Arts with the discipline of a Scientist.
Approach Science with the imagination of an Artist.
I consider myself really fortunate when I was 19 or 20 years old, fucking angry with society, a book on the library shelf caught my eye, "Voltaire's Bastards - The Dictatorship of Reason in the West" by John Ralston Saul. That and some of his subsequent books outline how since the early promise of "Reason" as a human quality to overthrow the for-granted dominance of the perverted Church it has become the only human quality left - at the expense of equally valid imagination, intuition, memory, ethics and common sense. The 'corporation' is the reptilian (if I may borrow an idea) where the individual is locked in a structure without any influence or knowledge outside of their own limited sphere and the Whole trucks forward with its own self-serving, mechanistic logic at the expense of everyone and everything. I can recommend anything written by Ralston Saul, and in the same way, journalist Chris Hodges, who is extremely vocal in his call for society to wake up én masse.
Meanwhile as I write this I just finished listening to a podcast that showed up in my soundcloud feed that fits like a glove this thread, a reasoned monologue from a white american male
