Picked up an MPD32 recently and I'm in the process of getting it lined up with Ableton Live, effect routing and all that. I wanted to see if there are any peeps here with experience performing with it?
80% curiosity, 20% reassurance that I'm not working on a template from ground up for no reason.. when there could be one floating around out there lol
anybody here performed w/ an MPD? Live?

Re: anybody here performed w/ an MPD? Live?
never performed with one but i know dudes who do live gigs with mpd only + ableton/traktor. In the end its just another midi dongle with mappable buttons, knobs, and faders.
usually the pads are linked to a drumrack with 1 hits and stuff while the faders and knobs are set to volume control and fx envelopes. or you could set a pad to trigger fx on or off.
it really depends on your style of DJing and beats. you can make up your own pretty quickly and easily in ableton too!

One thing I always wonder about that is how heads trigger clips and launch scenes with just the MPD. Do you map each of the pads to be a different scene or clip? Or do you just have the whole set running by itself and mpd for effects and one shots? Obviously different by preference. Just wondering about the ability to scroll through a whole live set.

Done a bunch of sets with ableton + MPD - each pretty different.
To answer your question: yes, you can scroll thru the set with a know. you can launch both scenes and clips. you just need to know how to map it all. ableton is seriously mega-flexible and customizable to anything you need.
