making a short note sustain?

ive heard a few people here talking about it but how do you guys get it done?

am i missing something incredibly easy here.

i usually use Reverb to add some tail to it, and adjust the Tone knob so that it makes the least impact on the actual sound of the note

also, using MFX 12 (Compressor) you can add some more 'oomph' to the end of a note using knob 1 which can help too, depending on the sample and what you want

also Tape Echo and Delay can be used carefully to achieve a bit of sustain too (or the illusion of it)

I use the reverb and just make a sample with the "wet" (ctrl 3 all the way wet ) Then i play with that sample untill i get it sounding right ( eq , compression ect ) then resample it with the dry note.

somethings will sound good some will sound shit, it depends on your sample. here is a few things you can try that havnt allready been said.

-resample a reverse copy of your note- then resample the original note and reverse copy with reverse copy played live as the tail. (lower volume on reverse copy may help).

-also, same thing as the first advice except insded of reverse copy make copy with begining cut off.

-if you keep your original and tail pads seperate and put em in the sequence use the lighted pads to make sure they dont overlap or have space between em.

- vinyl sim compression can help smooth things out.

check my beat where I extended the horn note. I know its far from perfect, but it took quite a bit of time and I think its the best I could possibly do.

juxt: this is damn good beat man! i mean it's one of those that make you feel different...

you could try to have someone spittin over it, coz if the instrumental is bangin' it'd be the bomb if mixed up with some good lyrics
