stereo not as pleasant as mono

Post by Krisso The Great »

On the 404sx .. ive always made resampled beats in stereo .. unfortunately it is alot easier for harshness to get in the mix

in mono the clips are neutralized a bit .. sounds more rounded .. is mono the reason the 303 sounds warm naturally?

My bad .. reposted :-s

The 303 still has the same resample limit as the 404. It doesn't limit you to resample in mono.

4 poly is what you get.... You can divide that up how you want.
4 mono or 2 stereo or a combo of both.

I would say that most people use mono because you can use 4 pads that way.

I'm with formal on this one. But I would add in some instances, mono can change the sound if you're dropping one of the channels and doubling up the other or if mega panned stuff is moved to the center (vs. just light stereo spread of instruments via reverb/decay/mild off center panning/etc.)

I wouldn't say it's more rounded so much as less info for your brain to process overall since both ears are getting identical signals. That's my unscientific bad guess...unless, Kris, you just have one ear that's mega sensitive and mono resample takes some stress off that ear?

nah ive got both ears .. find mono nicer on the ear even when you distory .. not sure but sometimes stereo resampling has caused harsh ringing nd distortion
