So I've tried to PM you guys about this, but I think it's time we as a community figure out the future of this site. We have a few options available.
1. Appoint some real admins (not moderators) who can approve new members to combat the SPAM.
2. Implement some anti-spam upgrades to the forum (more difficult user account setup captcha, first posts be approved by admin/moderator, upgrade the bbPHP software on your server to the latest version)
3. Backup and migrate the site to a different forum software/owner/server (since we know this isn't making you guys money) This option would require addition effort and somebody willing to come up with the yearly funding.
Options 1 and 2 require the current SP-Forums admins/owners to step up and make some changes and appoint some people who can take charge of the site.
Option 3 requires a total revamp and a new person(s) to take ownership and control of the forum. This includes the cost of keeping the forum going.

What I would like to know is who is willing to push this site further, help out/maintain what we have, or anybody who wants to take total ownership of this community.
Comments, feedback, suggestions, criticism is all welcomed. Let's dedicate this thread to the advancement of SP Forums. As of now all new members are being rejected the ability to share and join, so if any new members want to voice their thoughts please email me at 4ormal ( at@ ) gmail dot com and I will post them up in this thread.
Thanks for reading and urge you all to take this seriously since the future of our beatmaking community/family depends on it.
Yours truly,
Mark aka formal

Things have been pretty lifeless here for sure. I'm in to help anyway i can.
Perhaps a good step would be to include other lofi samplers into the mix to broaden the appeal

Option 3 seems unrealistic but I'm with you on the first 2. Maybe now the site has been closed to new members for so long the spammers forgot about us. Also I wonder how many people are trying to join. Anyone out there reading this who wants to become a member email me at [email protected] and maybe once I have a list I could send it to the administrators and we could schedule a few days of allowing entry.. just long enough to sneak them in

And this. It's worth having another crack at reopening this place for sure. I'm a mod & lurk a fair bit, no worries with spambusting either (even if I get a bit pissy about it occasionally).Chopperman wrote:Maybe now the site has been closed to new members for so long the spammers forgot about us.
