Battle 160 - Remix It!

Post by IIIII »

YO
Rules and infoe for battle 160:

Make a track with an acapella. I've provided some acapellas but you probably want to remix your own favorite dope track. Also don't restrict yourself to a rap acapella...im thinking bout doing some rnb but there are acapellas for everything. Get creative, props to anyone who makes a song that interprets this to the beyondish

Sweet Home is an awesome nes game i've been playing lately, "Fresco Theme" is a prominent song in the game that you MUST sample

The other recording you MUST sample is "Praise Song" from the Pygmies of the Zimbabwe rainforest

I've provided some percussion I recorded tonight (#'s 1-13). Use this and/or outside percussion samples. Outside percussion samples only allowed if you record the samples yourself with a mic. (microphone, sp mic, phone mic, etc)

Outside bass allowed

Use whatever equipment you need to use to pitch or alter the speed of your acapella. multitracking on other hardware, software is allowed

ultimately, have fun...and if you feel like doing it, do it 8)

.rar File: https://app.box.com/s/1h7rtdpsqwlik7sqhvkg
entries accepted until wednesday (7/16) night
Gunshot samples encouraged

I'll snailmail a drawing to the wiener

I imagine a rap/ singing is considered an acappella.

And you can only use one SP.

Everyone else can use whatever :P

Sick, thanks IIIII, digging the samples and rules. The only question I got is do we need to use a mic to get sounds for our kick and snare?

Wassup I!)
Cool rules... and there is a prize in here! :D

The vocals must be straight or can be chopped?
The software is allowed only for multitracking or we can use it to stretch/pitch samples?

Congrats on the last few wins guys. Hopefullly I'll have time to give this one a go. I picked up a second job so haven't had shit for free time lately but now that I'm settling into it and adjusting my day job schedule I might have a minute.

Remixed Nas over here.

Full disclosure: I didn't use an SP, did that with the Korg ESX (single sampler style) 'cause I haven't been on it much of late. Microwaved this one so I don't know if it sucks or not.
