But whenever I come here, it's like, woah, wads of cannabis smoke, everbody's just busy and not really thinking about "fame", maybe it's a little naive, but I really dig this place for this kind of relaxed, fuzzy atmosphere. Done

Something I noticed about these forums
I've seen various music-themed boards over time. Most had one thing in common: a whole bunch of hopefuls cracking their heads how to "make it big", but kind of forgetting to work on it.

There's always new music posted here to check out.
It keeps you motivated to make music of your own.

Yeah its like that
Its chills though a couple scumbags here.
I think this place produces the fame though. Cats like Jon Wayne and Dibia$e were frequent members here at one time, now they blown up since signing with StonesThrow. But they still come by to post or joke around. Cool dudes.
Other than that, this place needs to be refurnished and updated so more heads can join in. Maybe Keesj is waiting for the next SP? It would be cool to embed soundcloud and youtube into a post and have custom titles.

I think the kinda old-fashioned bulletin board style has a lot of charm.

Not impossible here. I was thinking of bringing SP battles to youtube or encouraging more people to make videos. Should each person individually gain new viewers and draw them back to the circle we'd have more exposure if we wanted.
Also tested out Ustream. If we could set up something like URLFEST the forums could set up webcam shows for people to do their sets ect. I don't know. Lot's of possibilities. I just do a lot of other music outside the SP so I normally use the machine for fun and to learn.

I think I have to take puff daddy 404 as my new alias

At the moment it's not possible for new members to sign up due to all the spam attacks. Keesj is very busy with his other website and sp-forums doesn't bring in any revenue for neither of us. So the time we can invest into the forums is limited. We're looking at various solutions at the moment however. Please allow us some time to come up with a good solution.
Ideas are welcome.

Re: Something I noticed about these forums
Thanks for the suggestions. I have more great ideas for the site, but like I said we're not able to put the time in, because we don't have the money/time. This is what we are trying to find a solution for at the moment. Because if we don't do anything the site won't be accesible for new members. And there is so much potential to make SP-Forums an even greater platform. But at the end of the day we all have to pay the bills.

that's a damn shame yet a beautiful thing. If you organized some kind of fundraiser, maybe in the form of an album.. could even ask for SP fam tracks for it as another form of donation. i'd buy it.
Re: Something I noticed about these forums
Found this thread by searching for something and I, too, must say that this place has proven to be one of the better places to check for people making very dope and interesting music on a very cool grassroots kinda level. I became a huge fan of Mujo because of this joint. There's none of that "how to make it big in the bizness"-shit with folks sounding more like marketing people and lawyers than musicians like on some other forums. Those kind of places always give me a headache, whereas on here I feel like I can always find some nice, inspiring stuff if I dig around.
Not a lot of fresh places left on the web so I gotta big up y'all for keeping it crunchy on here.
