check out my live SP video!

Post by drewzle »

lately i've been trying to set up live routines on the 404

here's a video i made of the performance of one song:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BYWZVCAoITA

i'm mainly tweaking effects on certain pads, changing which pads are routed to the effects and switching the patterns up

it's not perfect, but it's a start :)

hope you dig it

sup xdrewx?

i used Flanger, Phaser, Filter, and BPM Looper. the Flanger and Phaser were set to Send so i could balance the signal that got sent to them (dry/wet)

hopefully i'll juggle a few more effects next time, i reckon DJ Looper could do some sweet live twists on a drum track

nice use of efx!I love how the SP is more of a musical instrument then just a sampler!

Cool stuff, I like how it sounds a bit Linkin Park-like with the stuttering beat thing, very nice! 8)

thanks guys

i'm glad you're feeling it : )

i want to make another track where i can drum with the 404's pads for a few sections, and also stutter-start vocal samples etc

This is great, but I'm kinda perplexed...

At like 0:35, you're messing with the knobs, and you don't hit a pad, but I hear a ride cymbal play...

And then at 0:46 your beat comes in.

Are you using patterns, or what? If so, how come it took so long for the ride to hit in the very beginning?

thanks for watching

yeah it's all layed out in Pattern Mode

at the beginning i was assigning the pad sound to the flanger effect, took a bit long to trigger the next pattern which included the cymbal and reverse cymbal...so it was just me not being quick enough : )

At like 0:35, you're messing with the knobs, and you don't hit a pad, but I hear a ride cymbal play...

at 0.27 you'll see me hitting Pattern 2 in Pattern Mode, this gave me 2 or 3 bars left of the first pattern so that i could tweak the flanger as a lead-in to pattern 2 where the cymbal plays

And then at 0:46 your beat comes in.

i set this pattern to enter by triggering it a few bars early, then used pad 11 as a lead-in tone

the whole video was in sync to the music, but on Youtube it plays a bit out of sync...but i've noticed that in other Youtube videos too

That's a great idea, I don't know why I haven't done that...I've messed around with patterns but I've only used them for drum beats...
