VOLUME CONTROL NOT WORKING

Post by JOHNSONDONTSURF »

Wassup guys

I'm chilling in some flea bag hotel in Santa Ana, Ca with the homies and my sp was working perfectly fine one minute and the next, the volume CONTROL was no longer working. I don't know if I need new RCA cables or if it's my volume knob.

I can faintly hear sound when playing the pads or playing through EXT source but it's not loud enough. It also still peakis when I play a song on my phone with the volume all the way up (on my phone) through the EXT source.

I'm hoping it's just the RCA cables and I can go to a radioshack tomorrow and get knew ones.

Kinda worried cuz I bought it off of CL. And there is no warranty.

Good luck bro! If you dont know how to fix/solder the volume pot, your best bet is to find an electronics store, or do what I did - where i contacted roland and they later gave me a third party roland electronics repairer number/email (since i had no warranty left for my 404).

Hope all is well, Peace

I'd like to give a little advice...double check your cables before opening up gear to do surgery, especially since you already said you didn't have cables to check already. It's cheaper than accidentally fucking up your shit chasing after an unconfirmed problem. I made this mistake once (killed a computer thinking the power jack needed to be resoldered when it turned out it was my actual power cable that got fucked up.

Thanks, I will buy new RCA cables before I try replacing the volume pot.

HOPING THATS WHAT IT IS.

Although I think it is the volume pot. Now in retrospect I remember when it was working, when raising the volume knob about 3 quarters of the way i would get a little static/white noise sound. It wasn't too loud but you can definitely notice it faintly.

thanks again guys

I need one too. They are on back order on Mouser and they want $20 for shipping which is rape. If that turns out to be the only option maybe we could organize a group buy.
